FAQs about Alpha Bank Prepaid Visa benefits card

The payment of the child allowance (A21) through the card starts on 30.05.2025.

You can get all the OPEKA and DYPA benefits specified in article 152 of Law 5078/2023.

You get an email from DYPA or OPEKA informing you that your details have been auto-filled on the programme's dedicated platform.

Through the gov.gr platform:

1. Log in using your Taxisnet credentials.
2. Register or confirm your IBAN with Alpha Bank and your home address.
3. If you want to change your details, fill in the fields from the start.
4. We process your application and issue the benefits card.
5. We send the benefits card at the address you confirmed or filled in on the platform.
   

You have 5 days to confirm or register your details after you receive the email by DYPA or OPEKA. Otherwise, the card is issued and sent with the auto-filled details.

You’ll find instructions on how to receive your PIN in the letter you get with your card:

• If the letter contains instructions on how to receive your PIN by text message, you’ll receive your PIN on the mobile number you have registered or confirmed on the dedicated platform on gov.gr. This number will also be indicated in the letter.
  
•  If the letter does not mention receiving your PIN by text message, you’ll receive your PIN by registered mail at the address you have registered or confirmed on the dedicated platform on gov.gr.
  
  

1. Read the letter you received with your card to see how you’ll receive your PIN: by text message or, if not indicated, by registered mail. 
2. Log into the dedicated platform on gov.gr with your Taxisnet credentials and verify that you have registered the correct mobile number or the correct postal address. 
   

If you find a mistake:

• Request your PIN online.
  
• Call on +30 210 326 0000.

On the gov.gr platform, register the IBAN of the account you hold with Alpha Bank.

If you don’t hold an account, find out how to open an Alpha Bank account only with your mobile.

You are notified by email about the submission, approval or rejection of your application.

In addition, you can log into the dedicated gov.gr platform using your Taxisnet credentials and monitor the status of your application.

If 7 business days have passed since receiving the notification through Viber / text message that your card application has been gone through, log into the dedicated platform on gov.gr using your Taxisnet credentials. Check the status of your application and make sure you have registered the correct address.

If you encounter a problem or error, you may apply to have your card re-issued through your e-Banking:

1. On the “Overview” screen, under the “Cards” section, locate the card.
   
2. Click/Tap on the 3 dots on the right.
   
3. Choose: Lost/Stolen/Damaged card > Re-issue due to damage.
4. Choose to receive the card at the address you have registered with Alpha Bank. If your address has changed, you can update your details online.
5. Click on “Send”.
   

If you don’t have e-Banking, get credentials online from your computer or mobile or call us on +30 210 326 0000. 

Apply to have your card re-issued through your e-Banking:

1. On the “Overview” screen, under the “Cards” section, locate the card.
2. Click/Tap on the 3 dots on the right.
3. Choose: Lost/Stolen/Damaged card > Re-issue due to damage.
   
4. Choose to receive the card at the address you have registered with Alpha Bank. If your address has changed, you can update your details online.
5. Click on “Send”.
   

If you don’t have e-Banking, get credentials online from your computer or mobile or call us on +30 210 326 0000. 

You need to open a bank account to get the Alpha Bank Prepaid Visa benefits card.

The application is submitted automatically, provided you have maintained your Alpha Bank IBAN on the dedicated gov.gr platform. From now on you’ll be receiving your benefit in this card. Log into the platform and follow the steps to get the Alpha Bank Prepaid Visa benefits card issued.

The Alpha Bank Prepaid Mastercard you already hold will remain active and you don’t need to deactivate it. Your balance cannot be transferred to the Alpha Bank Prepaid Visa benefits card. You will only be able to use it to carry out transactions or shop with the Alpha Bank Prepaid Mastercard.

Yes. Using the benefits card is as secure as using any other bank card.

You should not share your PIN with anyone else. Find out more about the security of your transactions.

You don’t pay any additional fee when you shop online or in-store, nor when you withdraw cash from an Alpha Bank ATM.

However, you do pay:

• €0.75 to withdraw cash from ΑΤΜs of other financial institutions within the European Union. There is no charge if there are ATMs only from 1 financial institution in the municipal unit where the withdrawal is taking place.
• Up to 2.5% fee for transactions in foreign currency.
  

The fees for transactions in foreign currency are converted into euro with the value that Visa sets on the day they are processed.

With every transaction using your card, excluding withdrawals, from 01.04.2025 to 30.06.2025, you enter a draw and win 1 of 100 vouchers valued at €100 each to shop at ΑΒ Vasilopoulos. The draw will take place on 21.07.2025. Find out the terms of the competition.

In addition, you enter a special public lottery and collect lottery tickets when using your benefits card. The more you use it the more chances you get to win. The 8,500 winners will receive €1,000 each.

Yes, if you have activated your card. Benefit payments will start on 15.03.2025, except for the child allowance (Α21) which will start on 30.05.2025.

The prepaid card is the new payment method for the benefits that have been approved for the holder, as specified in the Ministry's programme. 

Cancel your card and apply for a new one. If you are not sure whether your card has actually been lost, you can temporarily block your card.  

You can cancel your card: 

From your computer through myAlpha Web 

1. Find your card on the home screen (Overview). 
2. Click on the 3 dots on the right of the card and choose “Lost/Stolen/Damages card”. 
3. Choose the reason why you want your card cancelled, and whether you would like us to issue a new card. The reissue is free of charge.
4. Choose an address for the new card to be sent to. 
5. Find out how you will receive your PIN. 
6. Click on “Send”. 

From your mobile phone through myAlpha Mobile 

1. On the home screen, scroll down to the Cards section and tap on the card you need blocked. 
2. Tap on “Settings”. 
3. Tap on Stolen/Lost card”. 
4. Choose the reason why you want your card cancelled, and whether you would like us to issue a new card. The reissue is free of charge.
5. Choose an address for the new card to be sent to. 
6. Find out how you will receive your PIN. 
7. Tap on “Next”. 

Your card is cancelled automatically. 

If you do not have e-Banking credentials, call us on +302103260000. 

For your own protection, review the transactions on your card. If there is a transaction you cannot identify, you can dispute the transaction online, by calling us on +302103260000, or at any Alpha Bank branch. 

To stay on top of your card transactions, you can activate Alpha alerts.

To monitor your prepaid card activity and balance:

• Find your card on your e-Banking (myAlpha Web from your computer or myAlpha Mobile from your mobile).
• Ask for a balance check at an Alpha Bank ATM.
