There are many scammers out there using diverse methods.

However, their purpose is always the same. To steal your e-Banking credentials, additional security codes and other personal data. This is how they intend to access your bank accounts and cards.

Therefore, you must always remain vigilant and know what you must look out for.

Get informed on the most common scamming methods

The most common and dangerous scamming methods include:

Suspicious messages

  • Smishing (suspicious SMS texts)

  • Fake bank websites

Identity fraud

  • Vishing (phone scams)

Do not forget that Alpha Bank will never ask you to provide your e-Banking credentials or your card PINs through email, SMS, Viber, phone or any other form of communication. Under no circumstances should you disclose your credentials and PINs to others over the phone, through email or SMS, or on Viber.

You must be extremely cautious and remain vigilant if you receive emails or other forms of communication that appear to have been sent by Alpha Bank or other organisations (e.g. the gov.gr website or by prospective clients claiming to have made a down payment), but ask you to provide your credentials or account and card information. You must also be cautious if you receive calls from people you do not know who claim to be accountants or other agents acting on behalf of Alpha Bank or other organisations and ask for your personal information, including your e-Banking credentials, card numbers and PINs, under the false pretence that they need this information to pay you a government benefit (Power Pass, Fuel Pass, Tourism-For-All Pass etc.) or for accommodation bookings, classified ads etc.

To make your transactions more secure, you should log into our online services only through:

  • Alpha Bank’s official website, which you should access by actually typing https://www.alpha.gr/en directly into your browser’s address bar.
  • myAlpha Mobile, Alpha Bank’s official app.

Never log in using links you find on other websites, emails or search engines.
