Malvertising

How this scam works

Malvertising, i.e. fraudulent or fake ads, try to lure you to a website. They try to steal your personal e-Banking credentials and carry out fraudulent online transactions, or steal other personal data and use it for malicious purposes. To do this, they mimic well-known websites, especially banking and commercial ones, on search engines. For example, when you try to find Alpha Bank’s e-Banking website on a search engine, it is possible that some of the ads that appear higher than the results may mention “Alpha Bank” in their description, while they are actually fraudulent. This is malvertising attempting to lure you to fake websites.
