Why invest in mutual funds

What you need to know about mutual funds
Collective investment, professional management
Mutual funds are a form of collective investment. In particular, they are a form of Undertaking for the Collective Investment of Transferable Securities (UCITS).
They gather capital from many investors with the aim of creating a single investment portfolio. That is a group of assets which can consist of transferable securities, money market instruments and cash. These groups of assets are known as the mutual fund assets. The management of the mutual fund portfolio is carried out by professional managers according to the strategy of each mutual fund.
Each investor participates in the mutual fund by buying shares. All shares have the same value, but their price fluctuates depending on markets and investments performance. Once a day, at market close, the company managing the mutual fund publishes the share prices.

Mutual funds are suitable for all investment profiles, from conservative investors to investors willing to take on more risk.
You choose the category that suits your profile.

Find the right mutual fund for you
Before you choose a mutual fund, ask yourself:
- What are my goals – Do you want capital gains or simply to protect your capital against inflation? Are you looking for regular income? Do the mutual fund investment goal and strategy match your goal?
- What is the risk profile – Does the mutual fund risk level match your risk tolerance? Would you prefer something with lower risk or can you assume a higher risk?
- What commissions and fees do I need to pay – Have you checked how much it costs to buy and sell shares? Is there a management fee?
- Who is the manager – Do you know the management company? Are they reliable and certified? What is their track record?
