About giving e-pocket money to your child

Do I have to approve the child’s transactions?

No, you don’t. The child approves their own online transactions, through push notifications on their mobile. However, they must activate them the first time they log into the app.

In-store POS transactions do not require approval.

Can both parents have myAlpha Vibe to give pocket money to their child?

Only 1 of the 2 parents can add the child to their myAlpha Vibe through their app.

I have more than 4 children aged 15-18 years. Can I give them pocket money through myAlpha Vibe?

If you have more than 4 children aged 15-18, ask the other parent to get the programme through myAlpha Mobile. This way, they can give pocket money to the rest of the children.

Each parent can include 4 children in myAlpha Vibe, through their app.

 

About the transactions your child carries out

Which businesses are not available for my child to carry out transactions?

Your child will not be able to use their card in the following business categories:

  • Off-licence.
  • Tobacco stores.
  • Dating services.
  • Gambling (online, slot machines, casinos).
  • Pawn shops.
  • Lotteries and betting.
  • State horse and dog racing.
  • Money transfer services.
  • Massage services and parlours.
  • Adult entertainment services and pornography.
  • Fortune telling services.

These categories have been blocked according to the code activity number they have registered with Mastercard.

Can the child still use the card without data connection?

Yes. They can use it with in-store POS devices, provided they have added the card to their digital wallet.

Digital wallets work on the mobile phone without data connection

Which digital wallets can my child use?

Depending on their device, they can use:

  • Apple Pay for iOS devices, provided they are 13 years and over.
  • Google Pay for Android devices, provided they are 15 years and over.
  • Xiaomi Pay for Xiaomi devices.
  • Garmin Pay for Garmin watches, provided they are 16 years and over.

Can the child use their e-pocket money without a digital wallet?

Yes, they can use it for online shopping. They can find their card details in the “Card” section of their app.

Can the child use also their card abroad?

Yes, when they shop in-store abroad at a POS device, as well as online.

Give the myAlpha Vibe Mastercard to your child who is travelling outside Greece for:

  • Studies (undergraduate, Erasmus, etc.)
  • School trips
  • Holidays with friends

Can the child use their card after they turn 18?

Yes, the 18-year age limit only applies for getting the card. The card will continue to be active even after your child becomes an adult. It expires 5 years after it was issued.

The child has a different mobile phone device. What should we do?

The child must download the app on their new device and you have to pair the 2 apps again.

Log into myAlpha Mobile and:

  1. From the “Overview”, tap on the box to get to myAlpha Vibe.
  2. From the myAlpha Vibe home screen, choose the child’s tab.
  3. Go to the child settings.
  4. Tap on the option to send a new SMS.
  5. Once your child downloads the app, go to the settings and choose to pair your app with the child’s app.
  6. Use the code that will appear on your child’s app.

My child’s device does not support contactless transaction technology. Can they use their card?

Yes, they can use it for online shopping. They can find their card details in the “Card” section of their app.

The digital wallet does not work without the NFC contactless transaction technology. So, your child cannot use their virtual card.

About managing myAlpha Vibe

The child has lost their mobile. How can I block the app and card until we find it?

You can temporarily block the card from myAlpha Mobile settings:

  1. Go to: Menu > Cards
  2. Choose the MyAlpha Vibe Mastercard.
  3. Go to: Settings > Lock and unlock

Can I change myAlpha Vibe package?

After the first 6 months when there are no fees, you can change the package through myAlpha Vibe settings.

Can I discontinue the package after the 3 free months?

Yes. There is no minimum activation period requirement for myAlpha Vibe.

How can I discontinue myAlpha Vibe?

After the first 3 months when there are no fees, you can discontinue the package through myAlpha Vibe settings.

About troubleshooting

My child did not receive a message to download the app. What should I do?

You must send a new message to your child. Log into myAlpha Mobile:

  1. From the “Overview”, tap on the box to get to myAlpha Vibe.
  2. From the myAlpha Vibe home screen, tap on the child’s tab.
  3. Go to the child settings.
  4. Tap on the option to send a new SMS.
  5. Once your child downloads the app, go to the settings and choose to pair your app to the child’s app.
  6. Use the code that will appear on your child’s app

The link for the child to download the app does not work. What should I do?

You must send a new message to your child. Log into myAlpha Mobile:

  1. From the “Overview”, tap on the box to get to myAlpha Vibe.
  2. From the myAlpha Vibe home screen, tap on the child’s tab.
  3. Go to the child settings.
  4. Tap on the option to send a new SMS.
  5. Once your child downloads the app, go to the settings and choose to pair your app to the child’s app.
  6. Use the code that will appear on your child’s app.

My child has not received push notifications. What should we do?

If the push notifications were not activated the first time the child logged into the app, then you must help them approve their transactions over the first 24 hours following their initial  login. Afterwards, your child will be able to confirm their transactions through push notifications, as per normal.

The first 24 hours after the initial login, the child:

  1. Fills in the confirmation code that is sent to your mobile.
  2. Fills in your tax number, the first time only.
  3. Creates a 3-digit e-com PIN to confirm their transactions, the first time only.
  4. Fills in the e-com PIN.

If the push notifications were not activated the first time child logged into the app, they can do so through the app settings under Profile > Settings.
