About giving e-pocket money to your child

Do I have to approve the child’s transactions?

No, you don’t. The child approves their own online transactions, through push notifications on their mobile. However, they must activate them the first time they log into the app.

In-store POS transactions do not require approval.

Can both parents have myAlpha Vibe to give pocket money to their child?

Only 1 of the 2 parents can add the child to their myAlpha Vibe through their app.

When don’t I have to pay a fee?

When you hold an account linked to an active Benefit transaction package.

About your child using the myAlpha Vibe card

Can I choose to get only the physical or only the virtual card for my child?

No. You get the myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa in both physical and virtual form. 

How do I activate the physical myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa card?

  1. Log into your mobile app with your digital banking credentials.
  2. On the home screen, scroll down to the “Cards” section and locate your new myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa card.
  3. Choose “Activate card”.
  4. Fill in your card expiry date and choose “Activate”.

Can the child use the virtual card on their mobile with no internet connection?

Yes, they can use it at in-store POS devices, provided they have added it to their digital wallet.

Digital wallets work on the mobile phone without data connection.

Can the child use their myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa card abroad?

Yes, they can use it to shop online or at in-store POS devices abroad, with no currency conversion fees (FX costs).

Give the card to your child who is travelling outside Greece for:

  • Studies (undergraduate, Erasmus, etc.)
  • School trips
  • Holidays with friends

How can we earn Bonus points?

From shopping

The myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa card is linked to the Bonus loyalty programme. When your child uses their card to shop in Greece and abroad, you earn:

  • 4 Bonus points for every €1 when you shop at major partners. 
  • 2 Bonus points for every €1 when you shop at other partner companies.
  • 1 Bonus point for every €1 when you shop in-store or online in Greece and abroad

From the 1st transaction

Earn 3,000 Bonus points as a welcome gift with your child’s 1st transaction using their card. You get the Bonus points at least 2 days after the transaction. 

The welcome points are only given once, with the 1st myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa card that is issued, irrespective of the number of children you have.

You do not receive Bonus points when you load the card.

How can I redeem my Bonus points?

The Bonus points your child earns with the myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa appear on your My Bonus account. You are the only one who can redeem them with any other Bonus card you hold and earn discounts when you shop.

Can the child make ATM cash withdrawals using the myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa?

No. The child can only:

  • Find out the card balance.
  • Change the card PIN.

Can the child use their card after they turn 18?

Yes, the 18-year age limit only applies for getting the card. The card will continue to be active even after your child becomes an adult. It expires 5 years after it was issued.

My child’s card was lost/stolen. What should we do?

Cancel the myAlpha Vibe Bonus Visa. Through the mobile app, from the myAlpha Vibe menu:

  1. Choose the card you want to cancel.
  2. Tap on the 3 dots at the top right.
  3. Choose “Cancel card”.

The card is cancelled immediately.

To get a new card, choose “Issue card” from the myAlpha Vibe menu.

Alternatively, you may block your card temporarily

About the transactions your child carries out

Which businesses are not available for my child to carry out transactions?

Your child will not be able to use their card in the following business categories:

  • Off-licence.
  • Tobacco stores.
  • Dating services.
  • Gambling (online, slot machines, casinos).
  • Pawn shops.
  • Lotteries and betting.
  • State horse and dog racing.
  • Money transfer services.
  • Massage services and parlours.
  • Adult entertainment services and pornography.
  • Fortune telling services.

Those categories are blocked according to the code activity number they have registered with their POS provider.

Which digital wallets can my child use?

Depending on their device, they can use:

  • Apple Pay for iOS devices, provided they are 15 years and over.
  • Google Pay for Android devices, provided they are 15 years and over.
  • Garmin Pay for Garmin watches, provided they are 16 years and over.

For your child to use their card through a digital wallet they must have an NFC-enabled mobile and add the card to that wallet.

The child has a different mobile phone device. What should we do?

The child must download the app on their new device and you have to pair the 2 apps again.

Log into the mobile app and:

  1. From the “Overview”, swipe right and tap on the “Pocket money to your child” banner.
  2. From the myAlpha Vibe home screen, choose the child’s tab.
  3. Go to the child settings.
  4. Tap on the option to send a new SMS.
  5. Once your child downloads the app, go to the settings and choose to pair your app with the child’s app.
  6. Use the code that will appear on your child’s app.

About managing myAlpha Vibe

The child has lost their mobile. How can I block the app and card until we find it?

You can temporarily block the card from myAlpha Mobile settings:

  1. Go to: Menu > Cards
  2. Choose the MyAlpha Vibe Mastercard.
  3. Go to: Settings > Lock and unlock

Can I switch to another myAlpha Vibe package?

Yes, whenever you want through the myAlpha Vibe settings.

You'll see relevant instructions based on the change you want to make.

The new package is activated immediately and the new fee will start being charged as of the following month.

Can I discontinue the package after the 3 free months?

Yes, whenever you want through the myAlpha Vibe settings. You’ll need to unload and cancel your child’s card first.

About troubleshooting

My child did not receive a message to download the app. What should I do?

You must send a new message to your child. Log into the mobile app:

  1. From the “Overview”, swipe right and tap on the “Pocket money to your child” banner.
  2. From the myAlpha Vibe home screen, tap on the child’s tab.
  3. Go to the child settings.
  4. Tap on the option to send a new SMS.
  5. Once your child downloads the app, go to the settings and choose to pair your app to the child’s app.
  6. Use the code that will appear on your child’s app

My child has not received push notifications. What should we do?

If the push notifications were not activated the first time the child logged into the app, then you must help them approve their transactions over the first 24 hours following their initial  login. Afterwards, your child will be able to confirm their transactions through push notifications, as per normal.

The first 24 hours after the initial login, the child:

  1. Fills in the confirmation code that is sent to your mobile.
  2. Fills in your tax number, the first time only.
  3. Creates a 3-digit e-com PIN to confirm their transactions, the first time only.
  4. Fills in the e-com PIN.

If the push notifications were not activated the first time child logged into the app, they can do so through the app settings under Profile > Settings.
