Can I open a business account online?
Yes. Provided your business:
- Has just 1 legal representative who already banks with Alpha Bank as an individual and has digital banking credentials.
- Is of the legal form Société Anonyme (SA), General Partnership (OE), Private Company (PC), Limited Partnership (EE) or Limited Liability Company (LTD).
- Is registered and taxed in Greece.
If your business does not meet these conditions, book an appointment at a branch near you.
I am the only legal representative and I’ve not received an email to complete the process online. Why is that?
We send an email to the personal email address you’ve registered as an individual.
If you haven’t received the email, it may be that some of the conditions are not met. In this case, book an appointment to visit a branch near you.
Can I pause the business account opening process and continue where I left off?
What documents do I need to open a business account online?
That depends on the legal form of your company.

I have a newly-founded company and have not filed a tax return yet. Can I open a business account online?
Yes. However, you’ll need to upload:
- Periodic VAT returns for the current year.
- Business commencement certificate.
Once you file your first tax return, you’ll need to bring it to a branch near you.

How can I view my business account activity through my business digital banking?
- Log into business web banking with the digital banking credentials of your business.
- On the home screen (Overview) locate the account you want and click on the 3 horizontal lines on the right.
- Choose “Balance / Statements”.
- Choose or set the time period you want through the “From” and “To” fields.
How can I add accounts to my business digital banking profile?
- Log into business web banking with the digital banking credentials of your business.
- On the home page (Overview), choose “Accounts”.
- Click on the gear icon on the right.
- Choose the “Alpha Bank”, “Other banks in Greece” or “Other banks abroad” tab, depending on the account you want to add.
- Choose “Add account” from the top right.
- Enter the remaining details to complete the process.
Can I apply for a chequebook online?
Yes, from your computer:
- Log into business web banking with the digital banking credentials of your business.
- On the home screen (Overview) choose “Accounts” from the top menu.
- Choose: Chequebooks > New application.
- Locate the account you want from the drop-down list. It must be in euro, not in foreign currency. Then, enter the number of chequebooks you want to issue.
- Choose between 10 or 25 cheques per chequebook and click on “Continue”.
- Check that the delivery address is correct and click on “Continue”. If your business head office address is incorrect or if you don’t want us to send the chequebook there, you can collect it from one of our branches. In this case, click on the link above the “Continue” option, choose a branch and continue with step 9.
- Check your details and, if they are correct click on “Continue”.
- Read and download the chequebook issuing terms (only in Greek) and click on “Continue”.
- Check your details, accept the terms and find out about the processing of your personal data.
- Click on “Confirm” to complete your application.
You may monitor the progress of your application by choosing: Accounts > Chequebooks > All applications.
Once we evaluate and approve your application, we issue the chequebook. To pick it up:
- If you have chosen delivery to the head office, the courier company we work with will contact you to deliver it to your head office.
- If you have chosen collection from branch, we will contact you, so that you can collect it from the branch you chose.
The fee is based on the Alpha Bank price list and your agreement with the bank, and it is charged to your account.
In what currencies can I open a business sight account in foreign currency?
Open a 505 business sight account in foreign currency in:
- US dollar (USD)
- Pound sterling (GBP)
- Swiss franc (CHF)
- Canadian dollar (CAD)
How can I apply for a chequebook in foreign currency?
I hold a business sight account in foreign currency with Alpha Bank. Can I make transfers from that account as well?
Yes, through your business digital banking you can make transfers:
- In the currency of your account, to any account you hold with Alpha Bank.
- In euro, up to the equivalent of USD 500,000, to any account your business holds with Alpha Bank, after converting your currency online through Web FX for businesses. To convert currency online, your FX account must be held in US dollar (USD), Pound sterling (GBP), Swiss franc (CHF) or Japanese yen (JPY).
- Up to USD 500,000 or the equivalent amount in another currency to other banks through direct money transfers with currency conversion.
How do I print proof of IBAN for my business account through my business web banking?
- Log into business web banking with the digital banking credentials of your business.
- On the home page (Overview), choose “Accounts”.
- Find the account you want.
- On the “Account Actions” menu on the right, choose “Print IBAN”.
- Print your certificate.
