Aid for establishing and operating new SMEs

How it helps your business

The Aid for establishing and operating new SMEs (pdf only in Greek) involves a subsidy up to 60% to create or upgrade your own SME for selected business activity codes (KAD) in every sector of the economy, except food, retail and tourism.

Which businesses are eligible

This action is addressed to micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses that are:

  • In the process of formation, i.e. established from the date the action was announced (18.12.2023) to the date of the first disbursement of the subsidy.
  • Start-ups, i.e. operating for less than 12 consecutive months from the start date on the IAPR to the date the action was announced (18.12.2023).

Application deadline ended on 22.03.2024.

Aid for establishing and operating new tourism SMEs

How it helps your business

The Aid for establishing and operating new tourism SMEs (pdf only in Greek) involves a subsidy up to 60% to create or upgrade your own SME for selected business activity codes (KAD) in the tourism sector. 

Which businesses are eligible

This action is addressed to micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses operating in the tourism sector that are:

  • In the process of formation, i.e. established from the date the action was announced (18.12.2023) to the date of the first disbursement of the subsidy.
  • Start-ups, i.e. operating for less than 12 consecutive months from the start date on the IAPR to the date the action was announced (18.12.2023).

Application deadline ended on 22.03.2024.

The Aid for the digital transformation of SMEs involves a subsidy to invest in the digital upgrade of your SME.

Which businesses are eligible

This action is addressed to micro-, small- and medium-sized businesses that:

  • Have closed at least 1 full management year.
  • Are active in 1 of the eligible business activity codes (KAD) for at least 1 year.
  • Have at least 1 eligible business activity code (KAD) when they apply.
  • Have not started or completed the investment plan works before they apply.

Which businesses are considered micro, small or medium-sized?

According to Commission Recommendation 280/1996 and the new Recommendation 361/2003:

Micro businesses are those that:

  1. Employ < 10 persons 
  2. Have an annual turnover or an annual balance sheet total ≤ €2 million

Small businesses are those that:

  1. Employ < 50 persons 
  2. Have an annual turnover or an annual balance sheet total ≤ €10 million

Medium-sized businesses are those that:

  1. Employ < 250 persons 
  2. Have an annual turnover ≤ €50 million or an annual balance sheet total ≤ €43 million

What supporting documents do I need to bring to the branch to verify the details of my business?

For your business financial details

For businesses with class B accounting books:

  1. Copy of E3 tax form for the last 3 closed financial years. If the most recent year isn’t closed, submit periodic VAT returns instead. 
  2. Periodic VAT returns for the current financial year and the corresponding ones for the previous year.
  3. Copy of the latest E1 tax form, only for sole proprietorships.
  4. ENFIA (unified property tax) certificate for legal entities.

For businesses with class C accounting books:

  1. Balance sheets for the last 3 closed financial years, including income statements, related annex, and company stamp and signatures of representatives.
  2. Subsidiary ledger trial balance for December of the previous financial year, if not closed, listing stocktaking information, activity for the period, monthly activity and balances. 
  3. Subsidiary ledger trial balance for the current period and the corresponding one for the previous year, listing stocktaking information, activity for the period, monthly activity and balances.
  4. ENFIA (unified property tax) certificate for legal entities.

For the investor or legal representative

  1. Copy of valid ID card or passport
  2. Tax return statement for the last 2 years or copy of the E1 tax form for each partner / main shareholder / guarantor
  3. ENFIA (unified property tax) certificate for each partner / main shareholder / guarantor
