What are the loan amount and collateral

Up to €40,000,000 for liquidity and/or investments

Depending on your business needs, you can get financing up to €40 million to meet:

  • Working capital needs – To develop and expand your business activities.
  • Investment plans – To buy or build fixed assets and invest in intangible assets, such as R&D costs, patents, licenses for processes and software.

You cannot use the financing to pay off other loans.

Type of financing

Choose the type of financing that meets your needs:

  • Fixed-term loans
  • Revolving credit lines
  • Bond loans

With or without collateral

It is possible that we may request collateral for the entire financing amount, according to our lending policy.

What’s the interest rate

Favourable interest rate

You get favourable rate based on the Euribor + spread.

Law 128/1975 levy

According to Law 128/1975, all loans are subject to a levy that is paid to the Greek State, which currently stands at 0.60%.

If you take out a bond loan, you do not pay the levy.

What are the loan term and repayment method

Repayment in up to 7 years

You repay the financing in:

  • 1 to 7 years, if you take out a loan for working capital.
  • 2 to 7 years, if you take out a loan for investment plans.

Flexible repayment schedule

You can adapt your loan payments according to your business needs and cash flow:

  • Equal instalments that pay capital every 3, 6 or 12 months on specific dates to be agreed upon.
  • Unequal instalments that pay capital - on specific dates to be agreed upon.
  • Lump sum payment at loan maturity (bullet).

You repay interest every 3 months from the date you receive the amount.

With grace period

If you want, you may have a grace period up to 2 years. During this period, you only pay the interest on your loan.

Which businesses are eligible

Specific number of employees

The financing is addressed to Mid-Caps with:

  • 250-2,999 employees.
  • <250 employees, as long as they have an annual turnover > €50 million and an annual balance sheet > €43 million.

To determine the size of the business, the number of employees is calculated according to Commission recommendation 2003/361/ΕC.

Specific industries

Your business is eligible if you are active in:

  • Agriculture, forestry, fishing
  • Industry
  • Construction
  • Transport
  • Tourism
  • Communications
  • Retail and wholesale
  • Other EIB eligible sectors

In Greece

The businesses should be active in Greece and the financed projects should be mainly based in Greece.

In some cases, it is possible for businesses and projects based in other EU member states to receive financing.

What are the eligible expenditures for financing with the guarantee of the European Investment Bank?

For assets

  • Purchasing, renewing or expanding tangible assets, including costs for design and development during manufacturing
  • Purchase of assets other than real estate (e.g. manufacturing equipment), for third-party leasing

Investments in intangible assets

  • Research, development and innovation costs – including gross salaries for up to 3 years of personnel directly associated with the research, development and innovation elements of the business activities, as well as costs for developing concessions, patents, licences, trademarks and similar rights and assets.
  • Purchase of licensing for processes, software and other rights and assets with innate production capacity.

Working capital (also as revolving credit)

For the business operation, e.g. current assets, such as inventory (inflows, products in processing and finished products) and receivables. 

You cannot use the financing to pay off other loans.

Which businesses are considered mid-caps?

Businesses with:

  • 250-2,999 employees.
  • <250 employees, as long as they have an annual turnover > €50 million and an annual balance sheet > €43 million.

Which businesses are not eligible for financing?

Financing is not available to businesses engaged in activities involving:

  • Weapons production
  • Gambling
  • Tobacco production, processing and distribution
  • Use of animals in experimental or scientific research, or areas that pose a moral dilemma
  • Purchase of goodwill and purchase of intangible assets 
  • Building construction
  • Pure financial transactions (e.g. sale and purchase of financial instruments)
  • Portfolio management of holdings and investments in companies
