What does “blocking the amount” mean in a transfer?

In a transfer which you have scheduled to be executed at a future date, you can choose whether or not the order amount will be blocked in your account until the selected execution date.

More specifically:

  • if you wish to block the amount, then the order amount will be blocked in your account, with no interest loss
  • if you do not wish to block the amount, you should make sure that your account has sufficient available balance by 22:00 hours on the day preceding the selected execution date of your order, otherwise the order will fail.

You can also receive notification of your fund transfers that failed to be executed, using the Alpha Alerts service, provided that you have activated this service via myAlpha Web, by selecting Settings > Manage alerts. Read detailed information about the Alpha Alerts service.
