About the Youth Pass in general

What exactly is the Youth Pass programme?

It is a government financial aid programme for young people aged 18 and 19, which was designed to:

  • Encourage and introduce young people to cultural and tourism activities.
  • Support the local cultural and tourism industry.
  • Get young people acquainted with online transactions.

You can apply from 1 April to 15 May each year.

 

Who can apply for the Youth Pass?

Young people who:

  • Turned 18 or 19 years old on the previous year to the one they are applying.
  • Are tax residents of Greece.

All the conditions are listed in detail in Law 5045/2023, Article 47, published in Government Gazette 136/A/29.07.2023 and Government Gazette 5420/B/14.09.2022.

The virtual card that will be issued can only be used by the person who applied.

 

How do I apply for the Youth Pass ?

Online through the vouchers.gov.gr  platform.

To apply, you must have Taxisnet credentials. Afterwards, you must:

  1. Fill in your tax number.
  2. Provide and confirm your mobile number.
  3. Provide an email address.

You need to complete a few simple steps and choose Alpha Bank to receive the financial aid.

If you turned 18 on the previous year to the one you are applying, you will also receive the aid for the next year. You don’t need to submit a new application once you turn 19. You will receive the payment for the next year automatically, once the State reviewed the conditions, within the submission deadlines.

When can I apply for the Youth Pass?

As of 2024, applications can be made from 01.04 to 15.05 of each year.

Do I have to bank or start banking with Alpha Bank to get the Youth Pass?

No, you don’t have to bank with us, nor will you start banking with us because you have submitted your application.

How is the Youth Pass aid paid?

The money is paid into your card in 1 instalment.

When will I receive the Youth Pass aid in my virtual card?

Until 31 May each year.

How much is the Youth Pass aid amount?

€150 for each beneficiary every year.

I have already received the Freedom Pass aid. Should I apply again?

Yes. The Youth Pass is independent from any other financial aid.

I do not bank with Alpha Bank, but I have e-Banking credentials from a previous programme (e.g. Tourism-for-All, Freedom Pas). Can I use them to activate the Youth Pass Visa?

If you had chosen Alpha Bank to have a virtual card issued for the Tourism Pass, you must use the e-Banking credentials that had been generated then. Your new Youth Pass Visa card will appear on your e-Banking. If you have forgotten your credentials, contact us on +302111073827 so we may send you new ones.

If you had chosen Alpha Bank to have a Fuel Pass I and II and/or a Freedom Pass issued and had obtained e-Banking credentials, we will send you new e-Banking credentials.

 

Is the Youth Pass aid amount exempt from seizure?

Yes. The Youth Pass financial aid:

  • Is tax-free, non-delegated and exempt from seizure by the Greek State or third parties.
  • Is not subject to any withholding, duties or fees.
  • Cannot be blocked or offset with registered debts to the tax authority and the State in general.
  • Is not taken into account in the income criteria for the payment of any social or welfare benefits.

Receiving and activating the Youth Pass Visa

Will I also get my Youth Pass Visa as a plastic card?

No, the Youth Pass Visa is a virtual card.

To shop at POS devices, you can add your card to the digital wallet of your choice (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) through myAlpha Mobile. 

 

Why do I need myAlpha Mobile?

To use your virtual Youth Pass Visa card.

Through myAlpha Mobile, you can view your card details and add it to your Google Wallet or Apple Wallet to use it at a POS device.

 

I bank with Alpha Bank and have e-Banking credentials (Username and Password). How do I get my virtual Youth Pass Visa card?

When you apply, choose Alpha Bank to get and use your virtual Youth Pass Visa card.

If your application is approved, you will receive a Viber/SMS notification once we receive your request through the programme.

When the process for issuing the virtual Youth Pass Visa card is completed, we will send you a relevant SMS.

To get access to your virtual Youth Pass Visa card:

  1. Choose “Login with credentials” on the myAlpha Mobile app to log in using your e-Banking credentials (Username and Password).
  2. Find your new virtual Youth Pass Visa card on the overview page (under “Cards”). 

If you have not yet installed the app on your mobile phone, you can download myAlpha Mobile directly from your mobile. 

 

I bank with Alpha Bank, but I don’t have e-Banking credentials. How do I get my virtual Youth Pass Visa card?

When you apply, choose Alpha Bank to get and use your virtual Youth Pass Visa card.

If your application is approved, you will receive a Viber/SMS notification once we receive your request through the programme.

When the process for issuing the virtual Youth Pass Visa card is completed, we will send you a relevant SMS.

To use your new virtual Youth Pass Visa card, we send you your e-Banking credentials (Username and Password) by email/SMS to the contact details you have provided to Alpha Bank.

Through e-Banking, you will be able to view all the products you hold with Alpha Bank. When you activate your e-Banking, you fully and unconditionally accept the e-Banking terms of transactions.

To get access to your virtual Youth Pass Visa card:

  1. Download and install myAlpha Mobile on your mobile.
  2. Choose “Login with credentials” on the myAlpha Mobile app to log in using the e-Banking credentials you received by email/SMS. Do not choose “Sign up to e-Banking” or “New customer”.
  3. Find your new virtual Youth Pass Visa card on the overview page (under “Cards”). 
 

I do not bank with Alpha Bank and have chosen Alpha Bank to get my Youth Pass. How will I get my card?

If your application is approved, you will receive a Viber/SMS notification once we receive your request through the programme.

When the process for issuing the virtual Youth Pass Visa card is completed, we will send you a relevant SMS.

To use your new virtual Youth Pass Visa card, we send you your e-Banking credentials (Username and Password) by email/SMS to the contact details you have provided to Alpha Bank.

How can I add my virtual Youth Pass Visa card to my Google Wallet or Apple Wallet?

Through the myAlpha Mobile app:

  1. Choose “Login with credentials” on the app to log in using your e-Banking credentials (Username and Password).
  2. Find your new virtual Youth Pass Visa card on the overview page (under “Cards”).
  3. Choose “Add to Google Wallet” or “Add to Apple Wallet”, to add it to the digital wallet you prefer.
 

My device does not support Google Pay. Can I still shop?

Yes, but only online, using your card details. To view the card details (card number, expiry date and CVV), log into myAlpha Mobile and choose Cards > Card Details.

I already have my Alpha Bank e-Banking credentials, but I have received new credentials for the Youth Pass and cannot log into myAlpha Mobile. What should I do?

I bank with Alpha Bank, but don’t have e-Banking credentials. When I applied, I chose Alpha Bank to get my Youth Pass. Why did I receive e-Banking credentials (Username and Password)?

To use your virtual Youth Pass Visa card.

With your e-Banking credentials (Username and Password), log into myAlpha Mobile, to view your card details, add the card to your Google Wallet or Apple Wallet and pay at a POS device.

Review the relevant Alpha Bank e-Banking terms of transactions.

 

Using the Youth Pass

Where can I use the Youth Pass aid?

You can use your virtual Youth Pass Visa card to shop at businesses active in the culture, tourism or transport industry.

For example: airlines, car rental, hotels, camping sites and other tourist accommodation, trains, taxis and buses, ferry tickets, travel agencies, bookshops, cinema, theatre, dance studios, orchestras and bands, museums and exhibitions, gyms.

 

How do I use the virtual Youth Pass Visa card?

  • At POS devices, by adding your card to an Apple Pay or Google Pay digital wallet through myAlpha Mobile. You cannot add the Youth Pass to the myAlpha Wallet.
  • Online, using your card details. To view the card details (card number, expiry date and CVV), log into myAlpha Mobile and choose Cards > Card Details.

Until when can I use the virtual Youth Pass Visa card?

For a few years from the time it was issued. Then your card will be deactivated. Any balance remaining from the aid amount will be returned to the Greek State and you will no longer be able to claim it.
