What are the fees

Up to 2.5% fees for transactions in foreign currency.

The fees for transactions in foreign currency are converted into euro with the value that Visa sets on the day they are processed.

For withdrawals

  • Free withdrawals from Alpha Bank ATMs. 
  • €0.75 for withdrawals from ATMs of other banks within the European Union. There is no charge, if there are ATMs only from 1 financial institution in the municipal unit where the withdrawal is taking place.
  • 1% of the transaction amount, with €4.40 minimum fee for withdrawals from ATMs within the European Union.

How to get control of your card

Complete control over your money

The prepaid card is not linked to an account and you set the amount of loading yourself. For more secure transactions, load the card only up to the amount of the transaction you are carrying out each time.

This way, if someone steals your card details or a merchant tries to charge you extra, you will only be charged with the amount in the card at the time of the transaction.

Detailed card activity updates

To monitor your prepaid card activity:

  • Find your card on e-Banking (myAlpha Web from your computer or myAlpha Mobile from your mobile).
  • Ask for a balance check at an Alpha Bank ATM.

Secure transactions

  • Receive Alpha alerts with Viber/text message or email in real time for every card transaction.
  • Confirm your online transactions with push notification or the 6-digit code you receive with Viber/text message on your mobile.
  • Receive a one-time password (OTP) for each of your transactions with the myAlpha Secure Web service.
  • Block your card temporarily if you’re not sure whether you’ve lost it.
 
 
Tip: Make sure you have given Alpha Bank a phone number where you can be reached. For your own security, we may contact you to confirm your transactions.

  • Have updated your details at Alpha Bank. 
  • You hold up to 2 prepaid bleep cards and up to 4 Alpha Bank prepaid cards in total.
 

Have at hand...

  • Your Taxisnet credentials, if you haven’t updated your details and want to do so through eGov-KYC.
  • The supporting documents you’ll need, if you haven’t updated your details and choose to do so by uploading the documents.

1. Fill in the application form

On myAlpha Mobile choose: New products > Prepaid card > Get prepaid card. Choose the bleep Smile Visa and tap on: Get it > Continue

On myAlpha Web choose: New products > Prepaid cards. Choose the bleep Smile Visa and click on “Continue”.

2. Confirm your details

Confirm that the following details are correct:

  • The address where you want to receive your prepaid card.
  • The mobile number where you’ll receive your card PIN.

If these details are not correct, you can update them on the spot.

Accept the terms and the cooperation framework. Approve the transaction:

  • On myAlpha Mobile, using your biometrics or your 4-digit PIN.
  • On myAlpha Web, with push notification or a 6-digit code.

3. Get the card

The new card shows up on your e-Banking within 3 working days. Once it’s ready, you get a message on your e-Banking.

You can activate the virtual use of your new card. Through myAlpha Mobile, you can easily add the card to your digital wallet to carry out transactions with your mobile. Otherwise, get the card details to shop online.

You receive the actual card by post in 8-10 working days.

I cannot find my new card on web banking. How can I add it?

  1. Scroll down on the home screen (Overview). Under “Credit and Prepaid Cards” and “Loyalty Programme”, select “Add another product”. 
  2. Click on “Alpha Bank”. 
  3. Select “Card” from the drop-down list. 
  4. Type your card number. 
  5. Click on “Add”. 

How do I activate my card?

From your computer or mobile phone, as long as you have e-Banking credentials.

From your computer through myAlpha Web:

  1. Locate your new card on the home screen (Overview).
  2. Click on the 3 dots on the right of the card and choose “Activate Card”.
  3. Fill in your card expiration date and choose “Activate”.

From your mobile through myAlpha Mobile:

  1. Scroll down to the Cards section on the home screen.
  2. Choose “Activate card”.
  3. Fill in your card expiration date and choose “Activate”.

If you cannot find your new card on myAlpha Web or myAlpha Mobile, you can add the card.

If you do not have e-Banking credentials, you can activate your card at an Alpha Bank ΑΤΜ after you have received your PIN.

My card is about to expire. Should I apply for a new card?

No. We will automatically issue and send you the new card to the home address included in your personal details, approximately 1 month before the old card expires.
