How Can I Close my Account Οnline?

From your computer or mobile

You can easily close your account from your computer, through myAlpha Web, or your mobile, through myAlpha Mobile. You just need to have e-Banking credentials.

Before you start

Update your email

If your email is not updated, you can update it online.

Settle any pending transactions

Change account for, discontinue or settle:

Standing orders
Postdated transfers and payments
Recurring transfers to the account (e.g. payroll, pension, rent)
Limited or blocked amounts
Cheques

Unlink products or services

Unlink from the account any:

Debit and credit cards
Transaction and service packages
Loans
Time deposits
Insurance products
Investments and portfolios
Safe deposit boxes

Notify any joint account holders

If there are joint holders in the account, they must be notified that you are about to close the account so they may unlink any products linked to it.

Add another account

If you have not already added another Alpha Bank account in your e-Banking, add one in your contacts. Any interest that may arise from the account you are closing will be debited in that account.
You can only add an account through myAlpha Web. Click on “Transfers & Payments” from the left menu, scroll down and choose Contacts > New contact.

The account:

Must be in the same currency as the one you are closing.
May be in your name or another holder's name.

In 6 steps

Using your e-Banking credentials, log into myAlpha Web on your computer or myAlpha Mobile on your mobile phone.

Locate the account

Locate the account you want to close in the “Overview” screen and:

On myAlpha Web, click on the 3 dots on the right of the account.
On myAlpha Mobile, tap on the account and then on the down arrow under “Gross balance”.

Choose Close account > Continue.

Transfer the balance

If there is a current balance in the account, choose “Balance transfer” to transfer it to another account, held by you or anyone else.

If the account has a negative balance, transfer the corresponding amount from another one of your accounts.

Verify the details

Check the account details. If they are correct, choose “Continue”.

Check the joint account holders’ details. If they are correct, choose “Continue”.

Add an account

Choose an Alpha Bank account where any interest from the account you are closing will be debited. Choose “Continue”.

If you have not added another account in your contacts, you can only do so through myAlpha Web.

Submit and approve

Check the details on your screen. If they are correct, choose “Submit”.

Approve the transaction:

On myAlpha Web, with a myAlpha Code or a push notification you receive on your mobile.
On myAlpha Mobile, using your biometrics or your 4-digit PIN.

Find out the status of your application

As soon as your request has been successfully registered, you receive an email notification.

Then:

If your request is approved, the account will close in a few hours and all joint account holders that are registered, will be notified by email.
If your request is rejected, you are notified by email of the next steps you need to take.

You can monitor the status of your request through the “History” section on myAlpha Web.

How can I close my account online?
