KAKTOS Publications were established by Odysseus Chatzopoulos almost fifty years ago, in 1974.
Until 1991, the publishing house released around 2800 books, introducing important authors to the Greek public. Names such as those of Arthur Clarke, Isaac Asimov and other leading writers in the genre of science fiction, became more widely known to the Greek public at that time, as well as writers of historical fiction such as Mika Waltari, Michel de Grece and Mary Renault.
In 1991, KAKTOS Publications inaugurated its cornerstone collection "Ancient Greek Literature - The Greeks" and focused on the publication of the series. This award-winning series consists of 817 volumes to date and is the largest collection of Ancient Greek Literary works in the world, covering the writings of more than 115 ancient authors, from the most well-known titles to rare texts.
Today, KAKTOS Publications continues with the same passion to expand into different genres with Greek authors and translations of selected foreign titles, while continuing to develop the Ancient Greek Literature series with selected English publications, children's books and luxury editions.
