Flexible Contractual Entrepreneurship Programs

Alpha Bank, with a view to supporting the primary sector, designed the Flexible Contractual Entrepreneurship Programmes, thus covering the entire chain from production and manufacturing to the export of agricultural products.

The Bank gives priority to producers, boosts every sound production endeavour in the rural economy and acts as a sponsor and coordinator.

The Flexible Programmes give the producers the funds they need and also help businesses gain benefits that help them get, develop and optimise the services required to distribute and export agricultural products.

The Programme is based on a partnership agreement which is co-signed by the associated manufacturer (buyer of agricultural produce) and the farmer (producer/ livestock farmer) at the onset of the growing season.

Taking into account the partnership agreement, the Bank provides:

farmers with credit to buy farm supplies (seeds, fertilisers, feedstuff, fuel, etc.) using the “Flexible Contractual Entrepreneurship Programmes” card solely for businesses affiliated to the Programme
buyers with working capital to pay for the quantities of the produce received from farmers.

Producers:

cover high cultivation and production costs throughout the necessary period
reduce production costs by buying farm supplies at better prices because of immediate payment
improve quality and increase the volume of their production, as they have agreed in advance upon the selling price.

Buyers:

get the liquidity they need to buy the necessary production volume and timely repay producers
build long-lasting and sound partnerships with existing producers
can expand to new markets and enter into new agreements as they are able to attract new producers.

Beneficiaries:

Farmers and livestock breeders recommended by an Alpha Bank partnered trading /manufacturing/ export enterprise, with whom they are acting under a contract for the purchase of goods.

Purpose

Financing part of the production cost of goods such as:

Purchase of agricultural supplies, animal feed,
Purchase of fuel,
Payment of Public Utilities Bills (electricity and water expenses)
Payment for the issuance of farm worker’s labor ticket.

Collaterals / Securities

Pledge farmer’s claims deriving from the contract.

Term

Up to 12 months, depending on the product’s seasonality.

Disbursement

Via the special debit card (i.e. Flexible Contractual Entrepreneurship Programmes card), used at POS terminals installed in specific farm supplies stores who have joined the Programme

Through Alpha Bank Branches when the farmer needs liquidity to cover labour costs at a predetermined time period (e.g. at harvest period).

Repayment:

The trading/manufacturing enterprises credit the amount of goods value in the farmer’s deposit account.
