Portal with banking APIs

The API is a code allowing 2 apps / portals to communicate with each other. With the Alpha Bank Group API Portal you get APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) which allow authorised providers to access the bank's systems.

Completely free of charge

All APIs are free of charge and no approval is required for the Sandbox testing environment. There are limits on the number of requests that can be made through an app for a specified period.

The purpose of the Alpha Bank Group API Portal is to provide APIs on 5 key banking tasks:

Third Party Providers (TPPs) 

Alpha Bank’s open banking APIs are addressed to financial institutions, Third Party Providers (TPPs) licensed by the EBA and ERP providers who have signed an agreement, at Group level (Greece and Cyprus):

  • Account Information Service Providers (AISPs) – They provide aggregated information on personal and business accounts and customer cards at various banking institutions. This way, customers have a complete overview of their financial situation at any time. 
  • Payment Initiation Service Providers (PISPs) – They enable customers to make online payments from an account held at another banking institution. At the same time, merchants receive confirmation of the payment initiation immediately, so that they can proceed with orders without delay.

To use Alpha Bank’s open banking APIs you need to:

  1. Engage in innovation.
  2. Not have set multiple approval levels and not be a simple user.
  3. Have activated strong authentication.
