Traffic secrecy and high protection in your online transactions

Alpha Bank takes constant care to ensure the maximum possible security of its electronic services. myAlpha Web offers a high level of security for your transactions through the following:

Controlled access

The Bank has in place specialised security systems to control and record all accesses and prevent any unauthorised action in its systems.

Encryption

In every transaction executed, the data exchanged are encrypted using TLS encryption.

Personal access codes

In order to use the service, you are required to enter your personal security codes (User ID, Password), which must be known only to you. You can also define an alternative User ID (alias) and we suggest that you change your password regularly.

For security reasons, your subscription is automatically "locked" after five consecutive unsuccessful attempts to log in.

myAlpha Code for electronic transactions

For additional security in your high-risk transactions (e.g. transfers to third parties), you will need to subscribe to myAlpha Code Service. More information about the options, the cost and the subscription to this service, you can find on the Service's page

If you have activated myAlpha Code Service for logging in to myAlpha Web or for carrying out transactions, you are also required to enter myAlpha Code (a unique 6-digit code), which you receive it via the Viber application or via SMS if you haven’t installed the Viber application on your mobile phone or computer. Alternatively, you may choose to use the myAlpha Code Device (token), to generate myAlpha Code.

The use of myAlpha Code in combination with the User ID and Password provides stronger subscriber authentication and protection. The unique code generated each time is unique and used only once. Each myAlpha Code can only be used exclusively for the specific transaction, since it is created based on the details of the transaction the user has chosen to carry out.

Additional verification mechanism for online transactions

Το further protect you from the threat of online fraud, we apply an additional warning mechanism, requiring a 2nd authentication through the myAlpha Code you receive with SMS, email or on your myAlpha Code device, to complete your transaction.

This mechanism is activated for certain transactions, such as when you increase your daily transfer limit, or when we detect unusual activity on myAlpha Web for Business.

Automatic sign off

For security reasons, there is a 60-minute limit for completing transactions ("Session Timeout"), after which the connection is automatically terminated by the system. Similarly, you are automatically logged out by the system ("Idle Timeout") if you don't execute any transaction within 15 minutes, while you are using the system.

Upper transfer limit

To ensure security in your transactions, there is an upper daily limit which applies to transfers to Alpha Bank accounts and accounts of other banks not registered in your profile, as well as to cards issued by other banks. This limit is defined by the subscriber.

Alpha alerts service

Using the Alpha alerts notification service, you receive notifications free of charge at any time, by e-mail or SMS, of the transactions and other actions in your profile, which you carry out via the e-Banking services. Furthermore, you can be informed about the activity of your cards and accounts.
