At a glance

Aiming to enhance the financial literacy of the young generation and aspiring to cultivate responsible citizens, we are offering the ABCs of Financials, in partnership with ActionAid. The programme includes training seminars on financial topics for teachers across Greece and provides educational materials for school activities addressed to students.

Promoting financial literacy in schools

Through updating the educational system and cultivating active citizens.

Financial skills for children

In partnership with ActionAid we are offering the ABCs of Financials educational programme to teachers in primary and secondary education, as well as students aged 10-15.

The action forms part of the IQonomy initiative, which aims to enhance financial literacy in Greece.

The manuals have received approval from the Institute of Educational Policy and the training materials are posted on the Skills Platform

Seminars for teachers

The teachers participating in the programme attend a free 2-hour training seminar, in-house or online, and receive a certificate of attendance.

They then receive the educational materials to hold interactive activities in class. During the activities stage, teachers receive support from experienced mentors.

The educational materials includes:

  • Manual for teachers.
  • Workbook for students; a different one per school grade.

Investing in tomorrow’s society

The educational programme gradually introduces students to key economic principles. The children have the chance to reflect on and discuss topics such as: responsible consumption, human rights, resource development and management, pitching business ideas.

Our aim is to create a new generation of financially aware and responsible citizens who:

  • Understand the complex global financial environment.
  • Make informed social and financial decisions.
  • Become vehicles of change for a fairer and more sustainable society.

Turning our values into action

With the ABCs of Financials, we actively demonstrate our contribution to the financial literacy of the young generation, starting from primary school.

Through online seminars for teachers and experiential school activities for students, the action:

  • Helps participants become familiar with key economic terms.
  • Boosts their day-to-day money management skills.

Our social footprint

The Social Impact Assessment Survey carried out by HIGGS (Higher Incubator Giving Growth & Sustainability) highlighted the benefits of the initiative, as, among the teachers who participated:

  • 93% believe the programme contributes to developing responsible and active future citizens.
  • 91% said the programme helped them develop new skills.
  • 91% reported that the programme helped children become familiar with financial concepts and terms.
  • 89% agree that the programme increased children’s active participation and enthusiasm.
  • 87% feel that the programme improved their teaching experience.
  • 73% consider that students adopted more responsible behaviours in relation to consumption, saving and civic participation.

At the same time, according to the SROI (Social Return on Investment) analysis, every €1 invested in the programme creates a social return of at least €7.35.

Planning for the future
