Scaling up sustainable financing to achieve full potential

• Initiated the green bonds framework and proceeded with first issuance of green bond for €500 million.
• Developed and published the Bank’s transition plan.
• Scaled up the sustainable finance strategy and completed the integration within the business and operating model. 
• Laid the foundations for fully exploiting the potential of transition finance: 
  • Became a partner of choice to support enterprises through their climate transition.
  • Converted all mortgage products to green loans.
  • Implemented sustainability criteria in all lending decisions.
  • Enhanced the ESG proposition for wealth and investments.

2024

Publishing our first set of 2030 financed emissions targets per sector across our lending and investment portfolios for:

• Oil and gas
• Cement
• Iron and steel 

Accelerating sustainability integration into the business model and stakeholder engagement

• Introduced the climate strategy and set targets for financed emissions.
• Joined the United Nations Global Compact.

2023

Fully embedding sustainability targets into our Business Plan

• Became the 1st Greek bank to join the Net-Zero Banking Alliance.
• Fully measured financed emissions and science-based target setting. 
• Launched the ESG Academy aiming to train 65% of staff in the 1st year.
• Introduced the ESG score for all clients and carried out Climate Risk Assessment for all financing decisions. 

2022

Setting the foundations for our sustainability strategy

• Set up Climate Risk Management.
• Launched the Sustainable Finance Framework.
• Doubled green-loan penetration as a % of new gross disbursements (vs. 2020).

2021
