Offering equal rights of access to culture
Opera shows
We supported the efforts to create an accessible experience for persons with sensory disabilities at opera shows, with:
- Interpreting into the Greek Sign Language
- Surtitles in Greek, capturing the dialogue and soundscape
- Audio description of the visual content, accompanied by dialogue voice-over in Greek
- Programmes with opera synopsis and key information about the performance in Braille
The following shows were staged in universal accessibility conditions:
- 3 performances of the opera The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, in 2025.
- 3 performances of the opera La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, in 2024 – The 1st universally accessible opera in Northern Greece
A musical panorama
In 2025, we assisted in hosting music concerts in universal accessibility conditions for people with sensory disabilities:
- 3 concerts “HARRY POTER | Music and Spells” – Compositions by 4 distinguished composers from the 8 films, with interpreting, surtitles, audio description and voice over, and the concert programme in Braille.
- 1 MOYSA Easter Concert: Requiem by Mozart – Long-standing support for the MOYSA symphony orchestra and first-time implementation of accessibility initiatives for a symphony orchestra, with interpreting, surtitles, pre-recorded introduction with audio description of the stage and a concert programme in Braille.
Literary events
Since 2024, we have been supporting accessible literary meetings with sign language interpreting.
On the occasion of the “Authors of the World Travel to the Concert Hall” series, literary enthusiasts met up close with:
- G. Makridakis, P. Markaris, D. Eribon, N. Thrall, M. Koromila, T. Rivière, in 2025
