Actively supporting education
In 2025 we started the new school year along with the students of the 8th Primary School of Nea Filadelfeia, 1 of the many schools that were renovated. The CEOs of the 4 systemic banks attended the blessing ceremony on the 1st day of school, walked around the facilities, and talked to students and teachers.
In addition, on the occasion of the Thessaloniki International Fair, we visited the 29th Primary School of Thessaloniki, which was renovated through funding from the “Marietta Giannakou” programme. Our executives were given a tour of the school, received updates about the projects that have been completed and committed to continuing their contribution towards providing equal opportunities to the next generation.
For a modern and quality learning environment
The funding covers the renovation of school buildings in public schools throughout Greece.
The first €100 million we donated in 2024 to select schools were put to good use, to create a safe, modern and accessible environment with:
- Upgrades of indoor and outdoor areas
- School yards with basketball and volleyball courts and playgrounds
- Sanitary facilities for people with disabilities
- Wheelchair ramps and accessibility infrastructure
Our initiative in numbers
Turning our values into action
Since 2024, we have renovated 431 public kindergartens, primary schools, junior and senior high schools and special schools across Greece, and we are continuing our efforts.
We are committed to doing our part in making the day-to-day life of students and teachers more equitable and safer. In 2025 the 4 systemic banks offered another €100 million to further enhance the “Marietta Giannakou” programme.
Planning for the future
