Sharpening the financial skills of people over 55
Financial and online banking seminars
Along with the People Behind NGO, we are offering the “e-conomy for all” programme to people aged 55+ with little or more extensive experience in computers.
The action forms part of the IQonomy initiative, which aims to enhance financial literacy in Greece. It includes free in-house and online seminars on topics related to online transactions.
Seminar topics
Each seminar series includes a theoretical and a hands-on part, and centres around 3 axes:
- Cards and transactions – Card types, card issuing, e-shopping and payments by card on Taxisnet.
- Security – Information on secure transactions and common fraud methods, how to address fears and what to do in case of fraud.
- e-Banking and guarantees – The benefits of mobile and web banking, presentation of myAlpha Web, instructions and precautions for loan guarantors or joint account holders, and financial fraud as a form of elderly abuse.
Aims of “e-conomy for all”
The programme aims to make the day-to-day life of older adults easier and introduce them to the modern, ever-changing reality.
It contributes to protecting the rights of older people, as they learn how to gain control of their finances and assets. It also contributes to public health, as it gives older people the chance to remain active and mentally healthy.
Apart from its key aims, the programme also:
- Improves the relationship between our older customers and us.
- Boosts their confidence in banking programmes.
- Makes our branch employees’ job easier, by limiting the number of people visiting them because they are not familiar with e-Banking.
Turning our values into action
Through “e-conomy for all” we are demonstrating how we respect the rights of the older population, and care about including them in the modern financial and social convention. We believe that financial management keeps older adults more active, safeguards them against social exclusion, and strengthens their mental health and well-being.
Our vision is to increase the financial literacy rate in Greece, which is quite low among the elderly.

Planning for the future
Through running the “e-conomy for all” we are creating the right conditions for the financial and social prosperity of everyone, and we are contributing to an equitable society of active citizens, free from age-based exclusion.
The online seminar series will continue in 2025, while the in-house seminars will be held outside Attica for the 1st time, to reach as many people as possible.
