How this scam works
In supplier bank account switch scams, scammers try to mislead you so that you transfer money into their account.
They usually send you an email on behalf of one of your suppliers. This email notifies you that the supplier bank account has changed. This way they try to convince you to make invoice payments into a new account they provide.
How to protect yourself
Stop and wonder – Don’t rush to transfer money if you receive an email with unusual content.
Verify the authenticity of the email – Call your supplier and ask if they have indeed sent you the email, to make sure it isn’t a scam.
Cancel the transaction if you have executed it – If you have carried out the transaction but you suspect you have fallen victim to fraud, cancel it immediately.
Contact us – Call our Call Centre on +30 2103260000 and, after listening to the recording, say “suspicion of fraud”. You will be immediately directed to an Alpha Bank employee.
