How to protect your company in a nutshell
You can play your own part in ensuring the security of your transactions, as long as you follow the advice and instructions we have put together for you in this section.
To make your company’s transactions more secure, you should log into our online services only through Alpha Bank’s official website, by actually typing https://www.alpha.gr/en directly into your browser.
Never log in using links you find on other websites, emails or search engines.
You must always ensure you:
- Protect your company’s e-Banking credentials. Your credentials are strictly personal and you must not share them with anyone. Find out how to protect your credentials.
- Use the internet in a secure manner. Find out how to avoid malicious and fraudulent websites on how to surf the web safely.
- Protect your electronic devices. You can use your computer, mobile phone and tablet to carry out business transactions. Find out how to protect your electronic devices from scammers who want to steal your information.
- Monitor your transactions and account activity. Use your bank’s services to get SMS and/or email notifications when you carry out business transactions.
- Stay updated on common fraud methods. Do not trust messages and other forms of communication from people you do not know. Get informed on the most common scamming methods around at the moment.
Do not forget that Alpha Bank will never ask you to provide your e-Banking credentials, your additional 6-digit security code (myAlpha code) or your card PINs through email, SMS, Viber, phone or any other form of communication. Under no circumstances should you disclose your credentials and PINs to others over the phone, or through email, SMS or Viber.
You must be extremely cautious and remain vigilant if you receive emails or other forms of communication that appear to have been sent by Alpha Bank or other organizations (e.g. Tax Office employees, the gov.gr website, the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator [HEDNO], the Hellenic National Social Security Fund [EFKA], the Hellenic Organization of Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity [OPEKA], the Hellenic Labour Employment Office [OAED] etc., or by prospective clients claiming to need your info to make a down payment), but ask you to provide your credentials or account and card information.
You must also be cautious if you receive calls from people you do not know who claim to be accountants or other agents acting on behalf of Alpha Bank or other organizations and ask for your personal details, including your e-Banking credentials, card numbers and PINs, under the false pretence that they need this information to pay you a government benefit or for accommodation bookings, classified ads, interest to buy or sell etc.
