How can I set up a standing order?

From your computer through myAlpha Web

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & Payments > Standing Orders.
  2. Select whether your standing order is for a transfer or a payment.
  3. Click on "Create new” on the right.
  4. In the appearing field, enter the IBAN if the standing order is for a transfer, or the organisation name if it is for a payment.
  5. Choose the account to be debited.

If setting up a standing order for a transfer, you must also enter the transfer amount, details for you and the beneficiary, payment frequency and date, as well as the date up to which the standing order is valid.

If setting up a standing order for a payment, you must also enter the e-payment number and debit limit.

How can I be sure my transfer or payment has been processed?

Go to History > e-Banking transactions for information on all your transactions.

Transactions that have already been processed are marked “Executed”. Transactions that have not been processed yet are marked “Pending”.

How can I save a transaction I carry out frequently?

As soon as you have completed the transfer or payment on myAlpha Web or myAlpha Mobile, you can set a friendly name for it and save it.

You can manage your saved transfers online:

  • On myAlpha Web, go to Transfers & Payments > Saved Transactions.
  • On myAlpha Mobile, go to Transfers > My transfers OR Payments > My payments.

There, you can:

  • Change your transaction viewing order.
  • Modify the details of a transfer.
  • Delete any transfers you no longer need.
  • Create new transfers.

Do I need to block funds when I set up a transfer or payment for a later date?

No, this is not necessary. It is up to you to block the transaction funds or not.

However, if you decide not to block the funds, you must make sure that your available balance on the transfer date is sufficient for the transfer to go through. If the available balance is not sufficient, your transfer will not go through.

If you have activated Alpha Alerts, you will receive a relevant notification according to your contact preferences: Viber message, SMS or email.

What can I do through IRIS Payments?

Through Payments you can:

  • Transfer up to €500 on the spot using your mobile phone. It is not necessary to know the account holder’s IBAN. You only need the account holder’s mobile phone number if they are an individual or their tax number if they are a company.
  • Receive up to €500 a day, without the sender needing to know your IBAN. They just need to know your mobile phone number or email.
  • Shop online with the amount charged directly to your account.

How can I shop online using IRIS Payments?

It takes 4 steps to shop online and charge the amount directly to your account:

  1. On the e-shop payment screen, choose IRIS as the payment method, then Alpha Bank from the bank list.
  2. You will be automatically redirected to the secure payment page of myAlpha Mobile, where you will have to log in using your credentials (Username and Password) or biometrics.
  3. Check the order details and choose the account to be debited. A message will confirm the transaction has been successful.
  4. You have the option to print out a payment receipt.
 

How can I change or cancel a standing order?

From your computer through myAlpha Web:

  1. Choose “Transfers & Payments” from the menu.
  2. Find the standing order you want to change or cancel and click on the 3 dots on the right.
  3. Choose “Change” to change the maximum limit of the standing order or “Cancel” to cancel it.

About locating past transactions

How can I find proof of my transfers and my transfer history?

From your computer through myAlpha Web

On the menu, click on History > e-Banking transactions > Transfers.

You can search for transfers made during a specific period. Choose a transfer to print out the proof of transfer or save it as a PDF file.

From your mobile phone through myAlpha Mobile

On the menu, choose Transfers. Navigate to the History and pending transfers section.

Can I print out the proof of transfer in English?

Yes, as long as you have chosen to view the site in English at sign in.

The only field that cannot be translated is the transfer description, which will appear as entered.

Can I print out my transfer history in English?

Yes, as long as you have chosen to view the site in English at sign in.

How can I find proof of my payments and my payment history?

From your computer through myAlpha Web

On the menu, click on History > e-Banking transactions > Payments.

You can search for payments made during a specific time period. Choose a transfer to print out the proof of transfer or save it as a PDF file.

From your mobile phone through myAlpha Mobile

On the menu, click on “Transfers”. Navigate to the “History and pending transfers” section.

About transferring cash

How can I transfer cash through myAlpha Web?

Between your own Alpha Bank accounts

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & Payments > Between my own accounts.
  2. Choose the account to be debited (From) and the account to be credited (To), along with the amount to be transferred.
  3. You have the option to add transfer details.
  4. Click on “Carry out”.

To another holder’s Alpha Bank account

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & Payments > Between Alpha Bank accounts.
  2. Enter the IBAN or the friendly name of the account you wish to send money to.
  3. Fill in the fields: Transfer amount, Details for depositor, Description for beneficiary, Message for beneficiary.
  4. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Regular priority” if you want the transfer to be carried out immediately or “Post-dated” if you want the transfer carried out at a future date.

    If you choose “Post-dated”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.
  5. Click on “Next”.
  6. Confirm the transaction with the Push Notification you receive on myAlpha Mobile or the myAlpha Code you receive on your mobile phone.

To another bank in Greece

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & Payments > Domestic transfer.
  2. Enter the IBAN or the friendly name of the account you wish to send money to.
  3. Fill in the fields: Beneficiary’s name, Order amount, Currency, Details for depositor, Details for beneficiary, Message for beneficiary.
  4. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Regular priority” if you want the transfer to be carried out on the next working day, “Immediate priority” if you want the transfer carried out right away, or “Post-dated” if you want the transfer carried out on a future date.

    If you choose “Post-dated”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.
  5. Choose the charges type: SHA (you only pay the fees for Alpha Bank) – OUR (you pay all the transfer fees).
  6. Click on “Next”.
  7. Confirm the transaction with the Push Notification you receive on myAlpha Mobile or the myAlpha Code you receive on your mobile phone.

To a bank abroad

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & payments > Transfer money abroad.
  2. Enter the IBAN or the friendly name of the account you wish to send money to.
  3. Fill in the fields: Beneficiary's bank code (BIC CODE), Beneficiary's name, Order amount, Currency, Details for depositor, Details for beneficiary, Message for beneficiary.
  4. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Regular priority” if you want the transfer to be carried out on the next working day, “Immediate priority” if you want the transfer carried out right away, or “Post-dated” if you want the transfer carried out on a future date.

    If you choose “Post-dated”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.

How can I transfer cash through myAlpha Mobile?

Between your own Alpha Bank accounts or to another holder’s Alpha Bank account

  1. On the main menu, tap on Transfers > Within Alpha Bank.
  2. Choose the account to be debited (From) and the account to be credited (To), along with the amount to be transferred.
  3. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Immediate” if you want the transfer to be carried out right away or “At a selected date” if you want the transfer carried out on a future date.

    If you choose “At a selected date”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.
  4. You have the option to add transfer details.
  5. Click on “Carry out”.

To another bank in Greece

  1. On the main menu, tap on Transfers > Within Greece.
  2. Choose the account to be debited (From) and the account to be credited (To), along with the amount to be transferred.
  3. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Immediate” if you want the transfer to be carried out right away or “At a selected date” if you want the transfer carried out on a future date.

    If you choose “At a selected date”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.
  4. Choose the charges type: SHA (you only pay the fees for Alpha Bank) or OUR (you pay all the transfer fees).

To a bank abroad

  3. Fill in the fields: Beneficiary's bank code (BIC CODE), Beneficiary's name, Order amount, Currency, Details for depositor, Details for beneficiary, Message for beneficiary.
  4. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Immediate” if you want the transfer to be carried out right away or “At a selected date” if you want the transfer carried out on a future date.

    If you choose “At a selected date”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.

    If you transfer money to an account at a bank outside the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), you may only choose “At a selected date”.
  5. Choose the charges type: SHA (you only pay the fees for Alpha Bank) or OUR (you pay all the transfer fees).

    If you transfer money to an account at a bank outside the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), you may only choose SHA.
  6. Tap on “Continue”.

What is my daily transfer limit and how can I change it?

You can set your own daily limit for all transactions that require strong authentication.

The maximum limit you can set is €15,000. To change the limit, log into myAlpha Web and go to Settings > Security settings > Change transfer limit.

If you wish to set a limit higher than €15,000, book an appointment at a branch

What details do I need to know to carry out a transfer?

  • The account holder’s IBAN.
  • The account holder’s name as registered in the account details.
  • The BIC CODE/SWIFT of the receiving bank, if you are transferring money to a bank abroad.

When will the transfer be processed?

  • Immediately, if you are transferring money to another Alpha Bank account.
  • On the same day, if you are transferring up to €50,000 to another bank in Greece.
  • On the following working day, if you are transferring money to another bank in Greece or abroad and you have completed the transfer by 22:00.
  • On a future date of your choice set along with the rest of the transfer details. If you have chosen a currency other than euro, your transfer can only be processed on the following working day.

Can I carry out transfers from my foreign currency account?

Yes, you can carry out transfers from all your foreign currency accounts. Specifically, you can carry out transfers to accounts held in the following currencies:

Can I cancel a transfer after I have completed it?

Yes, as long as it has not been processed yet.

Log into myAlpha Web, find the menu on the left:

History > e-Banking Transactions > Pending Transfers

Find the transfer you want cancelled, click on the 3 dots on the right and click on “Cancel”.

Am I charged for transfers made through e-Banking?

This depends on the transfer type.

To an Alpha Bank account

Free of charge.

To another bank in Greece

You can choose who pays he charges:

  • Charges are shared (SHA) – You only pay the fees for Alpha Bank. The recipient pays the fees for their own bank.
  • Charges are borne by the sender (ΟUR) – You pay the fees for Alpha Bank and the other bank. The recipient does not pay any fees. The recipient pays the fees for their own bank.

To an account with a bank abroad

You only pay the fees for Alpha Bank (SHA).

If the transfer is carried out in a foreign currency or outside the EU, any intermediary banks may charge fees for transferring the amount to the recipient’s bank, resulting in the recipient receiving the remaining balance and not the full transfer amount.

About making payments to companies and organisations

What do I need to know to make a payment?

You must know the following 3 details:

  • The payment / bill number. This information is available on your bill.
  • The payable amount. If you do not pay this amount in full, you may be subject to late payment fees by the billing organisation.
  • The pay-by date, as it is necessary for some payments, e.g. water bills (EYDAP) in Greece.

How can I make a payment through myAlpha Web?

  1. On the home screen, click on Transfers & Payments.
  2. In the “To” section, fill in the friendly product name, the name of the billing organisation, the payment number, the number or the friendly name of the card or loan you want to make the payment for.
  3. Alternatively, you can browse for your desired payment using the payment category list under the Payments section.
  4. Choose the account to be debited (From).
  5. Fill in the payment number and amount.
  6. Choose how the transfer is executed: “Regular priority” if you want the transfer to be carried out immediately or “Post-dated” if you want the transfer carried out at a future date.

    If you choose “Post-dated”, you must also choose whether the amount will be blocked or not.
  7. Click on “Next”.
  8. Confirm the transaction with the Push Notification you receive on myAlpha Mobile or the myAlpha Code you receive on your mobile phone.

My internet connection failed while I was making a payment. How can I know whether it has been completed?

Choose: History > e-Banking Transactions > Payments.

If the payment appears there, then it has been completed.

If it does not appear, then it has not been completed and you must try again.

The payment details I entered are incorrect. Can I cancel the payment after I have completed it?

Yes, as long as it has not been processed yet.

Log into myAlpha Web, find the menu on the left:

History > e-Banking Transactions > Payments.

Find the payment you want cancelled, click on the 3 dots on the right and click on “Cancel”.

Can I choose when my payment will be processed?

Yes, you can choose:

  • Immediate. The funds are transferred instantly. This method is available for card payments, Α700 or Alpha Epilogi loan payments, as well as payments to a number of businesses and organisations.
  • At a selected date. The funds will be transferred on the date you have selected. The earliest possible date is the same working day. On the payment date, you must ensure your available account balance is sufficient for the payment.

To avoid the stress of keeping track of your balance, you can simply block the relevant amount on your account, without losing any interest produced by it. Your funds will remain in your account, but it will not be available for transactions.

If you choose to pay on the same working day and complete the payment before 16:00, the payment will be processed at 17:00 on the same day. If you complete the payment after 16:00, it will be processed at 22.00 on the same day.

Can I pay somebody else’s bill?

Yes, as long as the concerned party is a natural person, as opposed to a legal person.

Can I make payments using my credit card?

Yes. Some payments can be made in interest-free instalments.

At the same time, you collect Bonus loyalty programme points.

To which companies and organisations can I make payments from myAlpha Web?

You can make payments to over 1,000 companies and organisations.

  • State and social insurance funds – Tax Offices, EFKA, EYDAP, EUATH, stamp duties, vehicle registration fees, municipalities, chambers, etc.
  • Energy – Power and natural gas providers (PPC, HERON, Volterra, efa, etc.), oil companies (MYRTEA, HERMES, CORAL, etc.), power grid operators (DESFA, DEDDIE, IPTO, etc.). 
  • Telecommunications and internet – Vodafone, Cosmote, Wind, Nova, etc.
  • Insurance companies – Ethniki Insurance, NN Hellas, Generali, Ergo, Internamerican, European Reliance, etc.
  • Donations – Patient associations, NGOs, foundations, etc.
