Alpha Bank brings you the Market Pass

Make the most of the financial aid offered by the Greek government to tackle the increase in household expenses, caused by the sharp rise in the consumer price index, through Alpha Bank. To get the aid you have the following options:

  • A virtual Market Pass Visa card.
  • A bank account with Alpha Bank.

The aid amount equals 10% of the cost of your purchases, up to a maximum of €220 per month, for single-person households. For larger households, the amount increases by €100 for each household member, up to a maximum of €1,000. Find out if you are eligible for the aid.

The programme ran for 6 months, from February 2023 until July 2023. Then, it was extended from August 2023 to October 2023.

If you want to get the aid for the 1st time

The process is simple. Follow the steps to get your Market Pass today. You can apply from 15.09.2023 until 31.10.2023.

If you have received the aid from February to July 2023.

You don’t have to apply again. The system checks automatically if you are eligible for the aid. Your virtual card will be valid until 31.12.2023.

You have to follow the steps from 15.09.2023 until 31.10.2023 if you want to:

  • Change the way you receive the Market Pass, from virtual card to bank account, and vice-versa.
  • Switch your deposit account.

You will receive detailed instructions from us at the contact details you entered when you filled in your application at gov.gr.

For August, September and October you will get the aid amount in your virtual Market Pass Visa card or in your deposit account until:

  • 29.09.2023, if you apply by 25.09.2023.
  • 05.11.2023, if you apply by 31.10.2023.

If you choose the virtual Market Pass Visa card

You can use this amount to buy any type of product at retail food stores or farmers’ markets.

If you choose a bank deposit

This amount is only 80% of the amount you would have received if you had chosen the virtual card.

You can use this amount without any restrictions.

FAQs

Who can apply for the Market Pass?

Greek citizens:

  • With income up to €16,000 in the 2022 tax year and total property value up to €250,000, according the 2023 ENFIA (unified property tax), if they are single, widowed or separated.
  • With income up to €24,000 in the 2022 tax year and total property value up to €400,000, according the 2023 ENFIA (unified property tax), if they are married, parties to a civil partnership or single parents. The amount increases by €5,000 for each child.

Do I have to bank or start banking with Alpha Bank to get my Market Pass?

No, you don’t have to bank with us, nor will you start banking with us because you have submitted your application.

When you apply, you choose whether you want to receive the aid:

  • Through a virtual card, where the aid amount is paid every month. In this case you get 100% of the aid you are entitled to in 6 instalments.
  • Through a bank account you hold with Alpha Bank, where the aid amount is paid every 3 months. In this case you get 80% of the aid you are entitled to in 2 instalments.

I have already received the Market Pass aid from February 2023 to July 2023. Should I apply again?

No. You have to apply again if you wish to:

  • Change the way you receive the Market Pass, from virtual card to bank account, and vice-versa.
  • Switch your deposit account.

The system checks the terms automatically so you can get the aid for August, September and October 2023.
