We translate the principles of our environmental policy into action
Alpha Bank undertakes initiatives and activities that contribute to the protection of the environment and the optimal use of the natural resources, while in parallel developing and supporting related programmes in collaboration with specialised organisations.
Creation - maintenance of green area
The Bank has completely re-landscaped an unused plot of land, owned by the Municipality of Athens and located next to the Bank’s building at 103 Athinon Ave. The Bank undertook to perform all necessary tasks, such as the design, landscaping, planting and maintenance of a major clean green area measuring 3,520 sq.m. in total.
The creation and maintenance of this valuable environmental resource makes a major contribution to the efforts to combat air pollution, highlights the urban green and upgrades the wider local area.
The Bank’s building adjacent to the green area created has been designated as “bioclimatic” and has its own 2,174 sq.m. of green area. Thus, the two areas together make up an important green zone for the area.
Earth Hour 2018
Alpha Βank participates since 2009, in the “Earth Hour” initiative, turning off for the lights in its Main Buildings. The "Earth Hour" started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia as a campaign to raise awareness of the public, who were invited to the lights go out one night, for one hour. This action soon became one of the largest initiatives against climate change worldwide.
