Transfers

You can transfer funds easily and securely between Alpha Bank accounts, as well as to accounts held with other banks in Greece or abroad. You can also set personal upper transfer limits, schedule transfers to be executed at a future date and view your transaction history at any time.

   

To which accounts?

  • to any Alpha Bank account (your own or those of third parties), immediately and free of charge.
  • to accounts held with other domestic banks participating in the DiasTransfer system. 
  • to accounts held with banks abroad, in more than 200 countries worldwide. For the list of countries, click  here
  • to accounts not registered in your profile, using the Additional Password.

From what means of payments?

  • from Alpha Bank accounts registered with debit usage rights in your profile.
  • from Alpha Bank cards (cash advance) and loans registered with debit usage rights in your profile, for transfers between Alpha Bank accounts.

In which currency?

  • in Euro (between accounts in Euro held with Alpha Bank and other domestic banks).
  • in foreign currency, for transfers to banks abroad, available for 21 currencies.
  • in foreign currency, for transfers between accounts in foreign currency held with Alpha Bank.

When?

  • immediately or at a future date, for  transfers between Alpha Bank accounts.
  • Immediately, for transfers in Euro to accounts held with other domestic banks participating in the IRIS Οnline Payments system, on working days (08:00 – 16:15) and according to Alpha Bank’s current Price list
  • at a future date, for  transfers in Euro to other  banks (domestic or foreign), with the earliest execution date being the next working day.
  • on the next working day, for  transfers in foreign currency to banks abroad

How?

  • by entering an Additional Password, which is mandatory for transfers to accounts held with other banks (domestic or foreign) and for transfers to Alpha Bank accounts not registered in your profile. Get informed on the benefits of the Additional Password services.
  • you can choose whether or not you want to block the amount of the transfer in your account until the selected execution date.
  • you will also be notified free of charge in the event that the transaction fails, provided you have activated the Alpha alerts service for e-banking transactions. To know more about the Alpha alerts service, click here.

Is there a limit?

  • no limits apply to transfers between Alpha Bank accounts registered in your profile, if you choose the immediate execution option. 
  • an upper transfer limit of Euro 15,000 (or the equivalent amount in the case of remittances in foreign currency) applies per transaction and per day.

At what cost?

  • free of charge, for transfers between Alpha Bank accounts (your own or those of third parties).
  • at significant discounts and in accordance with the Bank’s current Price-list, for transfers to non-Alpha Bank accounts (in Greece or abroad) 

Additional options:

  • monitor the status of each transfer order and view the complete history of all transfers you entered using the Alpha e-Banking services (menu  Transfers > History).
  • print a copy of the transaction and save it to a pdf file.
  • cancel transfers which have not yet been executed (menu Transfers > Pending).
  • set recurring transfers as standing orders for regular execution.
  • choose to save your frequent transfers for even faster execution.
  • choose how transfer charges will be paid (by you or by the beneficiary), for transfers to other domestic banks.

Useful Security Tips

  • Alpha Bank will never ask you for your access codes in any way (e.g. via phone or e-mail). These codes are strictly personal and you must never reveal them to anyone.
  • Select access codes that are not easily guessed and are not being used on other systems and services.
  • Keep the access codes confidential in a way that it is not feasible to be disclosed / stolen.
  • Log in to Alpha Web Banking only via the official website of Alpha Bank (www.alpha.gr) and never via other links appearing on other websites, search engines or e-mail messages.
  • Verify the validity of the Alpha Web Banking page and the security certificate by clicking on the lock icon in the address bar of the browser.
  • Update your PC with the latest versions and security patches of the operating system (e.g. Windows) and the browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox).
  • Inspect regularly your PC for viruses and other malicious programs using the latest versions of antivirus and antimalware utilities.
  • Ignore and delete immediately suspicious e-mails that ask you to provide your personal data, include links or attachments.
