The Alpha Bank Historical Archives were established with the aim of preserving the Group’s history.
Their responsibilities entail:
• saving, preserving, classifying and safekeeping the archive collections,
• seeking new material for the enrichment of the collections,
• preserving the most significant data of the operations of the Group Companies,
• supporting publications which refer to the historical course of the companies comprising the Group as well as exhibitions or other similar events,
• organising academic meetings.
The Historical Archives Section collects the records from the moment they are no longer required for conducting business. The archive material is digitised in order to preserve the valuable information contained in the records from a potential natural disaster or detriment induced by frequent use.
On 2 and 3 October 2009 the Alpha Bank Historical Archives organised their annual academic meeting. The event took place at the Banknote Museum of Corfu and its topic was ''Society and Politics in South-Eastern Europe during the 19th Century''.
A new publication entitled ''Economy and society on both shores of the Aegean'' came out in 2010. This volume is the product of a collective effort among the Alpha Bank Historical Archives, the Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Centre, an institution which belongs to Garanti Bank, and the Department of History of Boğaziçi University.
