The Art Collection of Alpha Bank includes more than 4,000 works of contemporary Greek art. These works originate from the Collections of the Credit Bank and the Ionian Bank and are representative of contemporary Greek art from 1880 to the present.

The works are paintings by the most prominent Greek artists who have left their mark on the course of Greek art in all its important phases from the time of the School of Munich (1880-1910), the significant mid-war period (1920-1940) and also contemporary artistic creation dated after 1960. At the same time, the Bank possesses one of the most complete collections of works of contemporary Greek printmaking, which other than prints, includes albums, books, as well as material from the world of graphic arts.

The Collection also possesses an important archive with maps and prints of foreign artists which have Greece as their subject and are dated from the 16th to the 19th century.

Many of the works in the Collection have been placed in Central Units and in the Branches of the Bank.

All the works are digitally recorded in an electronic archive. The activities of the Art Collection Section include exhibitions on a national scale as well as book publications and albums related to the works of the Collection and, more generally, on Greek Art.

In 2005 the most representative works of the Collection were presented to the public for the first time at the Benaki Museum, as part of the events organised to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Credit Bank and the 165th anniversary of the establishment of the Ionian Bank. A selection of contemporary works was exhibited at the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki in 2006 and in Cyprus in 2008. The exhibitions were accompanied respectively by the publications "The Alpha Bank Collection: Paintings - Prints - Sculptures", "The Alpha Bank Collection: Greek Art from 1920 until today" and "Alpha Bank Collection: Greek Art from 1950 until today".

Exhibitions with the works of the Collection are realised every year in various cities in Greece and in Cyprus. In addition, works of the Collection are lent to Greek museums and cultural foundations for the enrichment of individual and group exhibitions.
