During 2017, Alpha Bank continued to support Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). In December 2017, through the “COSME” programme, Alpha Bank undertook the financing of Euro 200 million to SMEs while in July 2017, the Bank signed a loan agreement of Euro 150 million with European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance the agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and services sectors. In April 2017, a loan agreement previously signed with EIB, was activated for raising a total amount of Euro 100 million.
Alpha Bank presented my ┴lpha wallet with Tap ‘n Pay, the first integrated mobile payments application in the Greek market.
Alpha Bank highlighted the most innovative digital business ideas that can shape the future of the financial sector, by organising the first Digital Innovation Competition “Fintech Challenge `17”.
In October 2017, the second financing transaction of USD 250 million through shipping securitisation with CITI was successfully completed.
For yet another year, the Bank received major distinctions at the annual survey conducted by Extel, which highlights the best professionals of the financial sector in Europe. The Investor and Analyst Relations Division ranked, for the fourth consecutive year, first in Greece out of 30 companies and also came ninth out of 139 European banks. In addition, the Bank ranked 38th out of Europe’s top 100 companies that are active in all sectors of the economy.
Alpha Bank was included in the FTSE4GOOD Sustainability Index for the high level of environmental and social performance. In parallel, a large number of social contribution activities were organised with the voluntary participation of the Bank’s Employees.
The advanced electronic services Alpha Mobile Banking, Alpha e-Commerce and my Alpha Wallet received a number of awards for their high level of usability, design and transactions security.
In March 2017, Alpha Bank participated to the international consortium for the long-term financing of Fraport Greece, regarding the concession of 14 Greek regional airports.
The Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection and the Nuseum of Cycladic Art jointly organised a major exhibition titled “MONEY. Tangible symbols in ancient Greece”, which runs through April 15, 2018. The Exhibition presents for the first time to public fine examples of ancient coins, the majority of which belong to the Bank’s Numismatic Collection.
The Alpha Bank Art Collection continued its important activity in 2017 and jointly organised, together with the Benaki Museum and GR Design magazine, the exhibition “The New ‘Salon des Cent’. International Poster Exhibition. Hommage to Toulouse-Lautrec”.
Alpha Bank supported the commercial restart of the Nicoloudis Arcade, following its restoration from the extensive damages caused by arson attacks in 2012. In total, 14 stores are housed in the Nicoloudis Arcade.
In December 2015, the book “With wisdom and vision. Alpha Bank 19th-21th century” was published. The Publication presents the Bank's history since its foundation until nowadays.

Alpha Bank remained consistent to its social contribution, through a number of Corporate Social Responsibility activities that took place with the volunteer participation of the Group’s Personnel, in Greece and abroad.
